XDCAM Codec for Avid MC-Import/Convert Sony XDCAM MXF to Avid Media Composer Avid DNxHD(*.mov)
Summary: This article shows you my solution for convertting files from a Sony XDCAM format to a file format that is editable/supported by Avid MC.
Sony XDCAM series camcorders are high-end professional camcorders which can capture stunning-quality HD images; they can offer very high quality HD recording at a data rate of up to 50Mbps at MXF format. But when you want to edit the videos they record, you may find the high quality video files are not recognized by most editing software even Avid Media Composer.
To be able to import Sony XDCAM, XDCAM HD, and XDCAM EX media into Avid Media Composer, you'll need to download and install the XAVC/XDCAM Transfer for Sony provided by Brorsoft.

Note: Before downloading the software the free version leaves a Brorsoft logo in the middle of output files.
Step 1. Run the program you just set up. Drag and drop the XDCAM files to the Converter. You can also hit Add files button to import videos to the app.
Step 2. Click Format on the main interface and choose Avid Media Composer > Avid DNxHD(*.mov) as output format.
Tip: Tap the Settings icon, and you can adjust codec, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and audio channel in the Profile Setting to get the output in best quality.
Step 3. Start to convert Sony XDCAM HD/EX footages to Avid Media Composer DNxHD .mov format via hitting the Convert button.
When the conversion is 100% completed, you can get the resulted video via hitting on Open button. Moment later, you can import and edit Sony XDCAM media in Avid Media Composer with ease. Don’t worry about any quality loss.
